Health Care Programs

Healthcare program is the most important activity of GK. Under this program GK provides community based primary healthcare services to the GB borrowers’ families. GK endeavors ensuring quality and affordable primary health care services to them. Currently GK is operating its healthcare services through 53 Grameen Health Centers located at 18 districts of Bangladesh. Each year GK is treating about 200,000 patients through its health centers. In addition yearly over 1 million people at the community are receiving free health services at home under domiciliary health activities of GK through Community Health Assistants. The GK health program covers non-Grameen borrowers’ households with special focus on low-income groups in the community.



The basic features of GK Health Centers include:

  • Provision of primary healthcare services;
  • Referring clients to secondary or tertiary settings;
  • Ensuring early detection of diseases;
  • Disease prevention;
  • Special health care services through mobile health clinic like USG, ECG & Specialist camp;
  • Advocating health awareness among the local community;
  • Introducing micro health insurance schemes to ensure low cost service delivery;
  • High-quality and affordable health services especially to the poor in the community; etc.
